Ralph Ossa’s research focuses on international trade. He is a former postdoctoral research associate at Princeton University, a visiting fellow at Harvard University, and a tutorial fellow and teaching assistant at the London School of Economics, where he earned a teaching prize for teaching assistants. From 2003 to 2007, he worked as a research assistant at the Centre for Economic Performance in London.

Ossa has been awarded a junior fellowship from the Royal Economic Society, an Economics Departmental Award and two Economic Research Studentships from the London School of Economics, a research studentship from the Economic and Social Research Council, and scholarships from the German National Academic Foundation and German Academic Exchange Service. He was also a participant of the Review of Economic Studies Tour 2008 and has presented his research at various universities.

Ossa earned an intermediate degree in management and economics with excellence from the University of Witten-Herdecke in Germany in 2001. At the London School of Economics, he earned a diploma in economics with distinction in 2002, a master's degree in economics with distinction in 2003, and a PhD in economics with a dissertation entitled "International Trade and Economic Development" in 2007. Ossa joined Chicago Booth in 2008.
