Biography

Ayan Bhattacharya’s research lies at the intersection of asset pricing, mechanism design and epistemic game theory. His work explores how market rules can complicate participation in markets – often leading to market failure – and the tradeoffs that bounded agents have to make in complex interactive landscapes.

Ayan is visiting Booth from the City University of New York. He is also a Research Advisor at Arrow Markets, a decentralized, blockchain-based startup. Ayan has taught courses focused on investments, asset pricing and managerial finance.

Ayan earned his PhD in finance from Cornell University, and an MS in applied math from Stanford University. Prior to graduate school, he was a prop trader at Kotak Securities (erstwhile joint venture between Goldman Sachs and India’s Kotak Financial Group) managing their structured products team in Mumbai. More details on Ayan’s research and background are available on his personal website.
