Express your interest in the Executive-in-Residence program by Thursday, November 9, 2017.

As a participant you will have the opportunity to meet with one of the Executive-in-Residence in a small (4-5 participants) group coaching session. You will be able to indicate the executives you'd like to meet with for the small group coaching session and the times when you can be available to meet with the executives.

Sam Deshpande joined Humana in 2017 as Senior Vice President and Chief Risk Officer for Humana, with responsibility for managing risk and compliance across the company, while establishing connections that allow Humana to continually strengthen and improve its performance. He is a member of the Management Team, which sets the firm’s strategic direction, and reports to President and Chief Executive Officer Bruce Broussard.

Before joining Humana in July 2017, Sam spent 17 years at Capital One in key leadership positions, most recently as Business Chief Risk Officer for the U.S. and international card business. He previously served as the Business Chief Risk Officer and Head of Enterprise Services for the Financial Services Division, responsible for Business Risk, Data Science, Data Quality, Process Excellence and Project Management. He also led marketing and analysis for the Home Loans, Auto Finance, and Credit Card businesses, with responsibilities for business strategy, credit, product and marketing.

  

Prior to Capital One, Sam worked for Accenture and Booz & Company, leading client engagements for Fortune 500 companies in the consumer, high tech, automotive and aerospace industries.

Sam has a master’s degree in business administration, with a concentration in finance and business economics, from the University of Chicago, a master’s degree in aerospace engineering from Virginia Tech, and a bachelor’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur, India.

Michael J. Mack, Jr. retired as the Group President, John Deere Financial Services, Global Human Resources and Public Affairs, a position he held since October 2014 after more than 30 years of distinguished service. His wide-ranging career included assignments in information systems, finance, engineering, manufacturing, marketing and credit. He worked in four business divisions at Deere and was based in multiple U.S. cities as well as in Europe.  

Mack began his career at the John Deere Des Moines Works as a summer intern engineer and has held positions in Treasury while living in Europe. He has held assignments elsewhere in dealer systems, business development, engineering, purchasing, manufacturing and marketing. Mack served as Senior Vice President, Marketing and Administration for the company's Worldwide Commercial & Consumer Equipment Division and then in 2004 returned to the Finance Division as Vice President and Treasurer. He was named Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Deere & Company in January 2006, and in June 2009, he was named President, Worldwide Construction & Forestry Division.

Mack is a graduate of Iowa State University with bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering and is a registered professional engineer. He holds a master's degree in business administration in finance, operations and statistics from the University of Chicago.

Mack is on the Board of Directors of the Financial Services Roundtable.

 

Heather L. Mason has been the executive vice President of Nutritional Products at Abbott Laboratories since 2015. She served as the Executive Vice President of Global Commercial Operations at Abbott Laboratories since 2014 until 2015. She served as the Senior Vice President at Abbott Diabetes Care, Inc. since 2008 until 2014. Ms. Mason served as Director of Dental Services at MicroDTI. She has been the Executive Vice President of Global Commercial Operations at Abbott Laboratories since July 2014 and served as its Senior Vice President of Diabetes Care since 2008. Ms. Mason served as Vice President of Pharmaceutical Products, Specialty Operations at Abbott Laboratories from 2001 to 2008 and its Corporate Officer since 2001. 

She served as Vice President, Latin America Pharmaceuticals at Abbott Laboratories from 2007 to 2008 and its Vice President, International Marketing from 2005 to 2007 and also its Vice President of Specialty Operations from 2001 to 2005. Ms. Mason served as Divisional Vice President and General Manager, Diabetes/Metabolics, Pharmaceutical Products Division of Abbott Laboratories since 2001. From 2000 to 2001, she served as Divisional Vice President, Oncology and Managed Healthcare, Pharmaceutical Products Division and from 1998 to 2000, served as Divisional Vice President, Managed Healthcare, Pharmaceutical Products Division. 

Ms. Mason joined Abbott in 1990. She held a number of positions in Abbott's U.S. pharmaceutical business, including oversight of Abbott's specialty pharmaceuticals, the diabetes/metabolics and oncology franchises and managed health care. Prior to Abbott, she served for Quaker Oats and FMC Corporation. Ms. Mason served as Business Unit Director, Managed Healthcare, Pharmaceutical Products Division since 1998.

Ms. Mason serves as an Advisory Board Member of the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association and Corporate Advisor for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and American Diabetes Association. She holds bachelor's degree in engineering from University of Michigan and master's degree in business administration from University of Chicago.
