Joseph D. Mansueto, founder and chairman of Morningstar Inc., received his MBA in 1980. In 1984 he started Morningstar, a mutual fund research firm providing independent, unbiased evaluations of mutual funds to both individual and professional investors. By 2000, under his guidance, Morningstar became a $50 million company that revolutionized the mutual fund industry.
The company's flagship publication, Morningstar Mutual Funds, and the annual Mutual Fund Sourcebook have earned stellar reputations among millions of investors. Morningstar.com launched in 1997 and has been named a top-10 investment website by Barron's, Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine, Money Magazine, SmartMoney, and the Wall Street Journal.
Mansueto has received the KPMG Peat Marwick High Tech Entrepreneur of the Year Award and the Chicago Booth Rosenthal Award for excellence in investment research.
