Joycelyn Winnecke, ’05 (XP-74)
Chief Marketing and Experience Officer
Joyce Winnecke is a veteran journalist and senior executive leading transformation and change. In her current position, she is chief marketing and experience officer at PCMA, overseeing marketing, communications, education, media and face-to-face engagement for the premier organization serving the global business events industry.
Joyce’s background is a rare combination of journalism, audience and revenue development, and P&L responsibility. As a journalist, she reported and led coverage of politics and government, lifestyle and culture, including as associate managing editor/national news at the Chicago Tribune, managing editor at the Chicago Sun-Times, city editor at the Indianapolis Star and Washington correspondent for Scripps Howard News Service. As president of Tribune Content Agency, she more than doubled revenue and EBITDA for the 98-year-old licensing and syndication firm. As vice president and associate editor at Chicago Tribune, she helped engineer a digital transformation and develop new business models aimed at supporting quality journalism.
Joyce holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She completed Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management’s course on Corporate Governance: Effectiveness and Accountability in the Boardroom. She is president of the YWCA Metropolitan Chicago board of directors. She is on the President’s Advisory Board for Governors State University and previously served on the boards of The Chicago Network and Chicago Tribune Foundation. She is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago, The Chicago Club and the International Women’s Forum.
A respected industry and community leader, Joyce is invited to speak on innovation, media, leadership, and the advancement of women. In her role at PCMA, she is spearheading a new initiative aimed at making the business events industry a beacon for diversity and inclusion.
