Elena Zinchenko holds the position of director of research innovation at the Office of Vice President for Research, Innovation, and National Laboratories at the University of Chicago. In this role, she manages the Big Ideas Generator (BIG), a comprehensive platform for providing seed funding and strategic support for early-stage and highly ambitious basic research projects across all fields at the University. Zinchenko also teaches Strategies and Processes of Negotiation at Chicago Booth.
Zinchenko’s current research interests include novel models for research innovation and developing metrics of value capture beyond the traditional measures. Her previous work focused on the application of advances in neuroscience to business, marketing, and education, as well as broad theoretical questions of cognition and development. She has conducted brain-imaging and behavioral research, and received her doctorate from Harvard University and post-doctoral fellowship from the University of Chicago.
