Five times a year, the Chicago Booth Evening MBA and Weekend MBA Programs welcome admitted students to our downtown Chicago campus to take part in LAUNCH, an immersive three-day program that kicks off the Booth experience. LAUNCH functions as part-orientation, part leadership training for new Evening and Weekend students, and serves as an introduction to the LEAD program which they will continue to touch on throughout their time at Chicago Booth.
LEAD, which stands for Leadership, Exploration, and Development, grounds students in the key tenets of leadership at Booth – working in a team environment, influencing others, conflict management, and effective presentation skills – as well as sets the stage to create an individualized leadership development plan as they move through their MBA.
Because the Evening MBA and Weekend MBA programs allow for so much flexibility based on personal and professional interest, LAUNCH offers students a more team-focused orientation experience. December’s LAUNCH program was held for Chicago Booth's incoming class of Evening MBA students who will begin in January 2018.
Among the 51-student class:
Hear from some incoming students who shared what they were learning from their LAUNCH experience:
“With other orientations I've experienced, there's just a bunch of stuff coming at you and people talking at you, but this is more about exploration and learning about one another.” - Jason Foster
“We all talk the same language, but we can bring diversity to the conversation.” - Sean Xu
“This is a lot more about leadership and self-development versus the orientation as an undergraduate. From a management standpoint, it’s great, and we’ve already learned to work with people with different mindsets and skill sets.” - Chris Adkins
We welcome the incoming Evening MBA class and the other students who will begin their MBA journey at Chicago Booth in 2018! If you would like to learn more about student life at Booth, please contact our Admissions staff.
