Joni Young (Speaker), Deloitte Consulting, LLP
Joni Young is a Supply Chain manager with more than 20 years of experience in sourcing, negotiations, and process improvements. She has sourced a broad set of categories that includes MRO, software and services related to IT, telecommunications, health, food, facility and professional services. Ms. Young is a Certified Purchasing Manager whose project experiences have resulted in significant cost reductions and operational improvements for local governments and manufacturers. Currently consulting in the Supply Chain Strategy practice of Deloitte Consulting, LLP, she specializes in cost reduction relative to indirect goods and services generated through external competition and maximized through internal demand management and compliance. Prior to consulting, Ms. Young managed purchasing and related functions for local governments.
Alison Miles (Speaker)
Senior Consultant, Global Trade Solutions, Deloitte Tax, LLP
Alison Miles is a Senior Consultant with the Global Trade Solutions practice of Deloitte Tax, LLP, based in the Chicago office. Ms. Miles advises clients on a wide range of international trade and customs issues including classification, valuation, duty-reduction, and import and export compliance. Recent projects include serving retail clients with the implementation of tax structures designed to achieve duty savings on qualifying U.S. imports as well as assisting a global company in a broker rationalization project spanning the U.S. and E.U.
Ms. Miles joined Deloitte Tax LLP upon the completion of her Masters degree in International Affairs from Loyola University Chicago. During her studies at Loyola, she interned for the World Trade Center Illinois where she prepared country trade profiles, researched emerging import and export markets and helped organize and run trade promotion events. She earned a B.A. in Business/Political Science from Calvin College, Grand Rapids, Michigan. In April 2008, she passed the U.S. Customs Broker Licensing Exam.
