Exit from I-5 at the Via De La Valle exit in Del Mar. Travel west to Jimmy Durante Blvd. and turn left. You'll see the racetrack on the right, surrounded by a variety of parking lot options.
Choose which ever parking lot you prefer. Rates and locations will vary. Some lots may offer shuttle service if the distance is too far to comfortably walk to the entry gate.
It's time to kick off the most exciting social event of the year – Opening Day at Del Mar Racetrack! It's time to enjoy the ambiance, the thrill of the races, and the fabulous hats and attire as you will see. We have reserved seats in The Stretch Run section, with easy access to the ticket counters, the horse preview area, and a variety of food and beverage options. Come network with fellow Booth alumni and enjoy the biggest social event of the year.
This is the most highly anticipated social event of the year, with a sell-out crowd every year for Opening Day. Come network with fellow Booth alumni and enjoy an exciting day at the races. The event host is Janice Cain '98, president of the San Diego Chicago Booth Alumni Club.
This day is not only about big bets and fast horses, but celebrating the season in style. Fashion-minded guests may want to participate in Del Mar's annual tradition, the Opening Day Hats Contest, where entrants compete for cash prizes and judged on creativity and style.
Gates open early at 11:30 a.m. on Opening Day only. The first race begins at 2:00 p.m. Racing concludes around 5:00 p.m. Plan to arrive at whatever time your schedule allows that day.
Purchase your admission ticket and an assigned seat in The Stretch Run section for $15.
Alumni are welcome to bring one guest, but no more due to space constraints. Our seating capacity is limited for this sell-out event. Event registration will close by Wednesday, July 15 or as soon as our 20 tickets sell out.
Tickets will be available for pick-up at will call under the primary registrant's name. Please bring proper idenftification to avoid any issues in picking up your tickets.
