Join fellow alum for a one-of-a-kind tour on the side streets of Manhattan to go behind the scenes and meet some of the incredible people who own businesses on the side streets.
Led by the Manhattan Sideways team (sideways.nyc), participants will discover hidden gems from a French fabric boutique to a vintage store filled with collectibles, to a extraordinary woodworking shop. They will hear the history of a 150 year-old company and of how a father came to NYC from Japan in 1960 and built a successful business with his son.
What is a walk in the city without some good food and drink? Participants will be treated to a variety of baked goods and gelato, and will conclude the event at a fantastic wine and cheese shop where the owner will chat about his unique wine and culinary selections.
6:00pm: Les Toiles du Soleil (261 West 19th Street) Sandrine and Jean-Luc, the lovely couple behind this fabulous French fabric shop, will speak about the 150-year-old history of the family company in southern France - while we browse through their colorful inventory of pillows, espadrilles, bags, kitchen items, and more.
6:15-7:15pm: Alternate visiting the places below for snacks, shopping, and chats with business owners and local artists.

- Authentiques (255 West 18th Street) For over forty years, partners Paul and Robert have been selling one of Manhattan's best collections of vintage items. The boutique brims with NYC postcards, glasses and barware, Disney memorabilia, and more.
