2020 was a standout year for ESG investing, for institutional and individual investors alike. Deloitte expects the asset class to continue its growth and make up about half of the US managed assets in the next five years. But what does ESG investing really mean and why has it become so popular?

During this fireside chat, Tomoe Odahara, '04 (XP-73), and Jennifer Singh, '12 will discuss the rise of sustainable investing and the drivers behind its performance. The conversation will dig into why ESG is now a critical factor for many investors and how business leaders should respond. THey will also highlight the innovative technologies that businesses should adopt today to shift toward a sustainable investment future.

The last 30 minutes of the event will be reserved for informal networking.

Jennifer Singh is a technology executive with over 15 years of experience building and scaling innovative businesses at both startups and large corporations. Jen is the Co-Founder of Understory, a global platform that helps organizations use technology and innovation to make our world more sustainable. Understory also offers educational resources and events to make sustainability accessible, practical, and actionable.

Prior to Understory, Jen held a variety of commercial and product management leadership roles where she pioneered new technology solutions. She is an industry expert, author and featured speaker on topics such as sustainability, innovation, cybersecurity, and disruptive technologies.

Jen holds a B.S. in Finance and Accounting from Georgetown University and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She supports her local community by leading House of Genius Atlanta and serving on the Boards of Startup Atlanta, The Rebel Women and The Lola. All are organizations dedicated to supporting the advancement of entrepreneurs or professional women.

Tomoe is an official mentor to The Cherie Blair Foundation for Women. Tomoe has been a long time ESG investor. She has been an active investor in technology, enterprise software, technology enabled media areas.
