*The # of public companies in the U.S. has fallen from 8,000 (in 1996) to <4000.  

*Chicago Booth has a lot more students going off to work at smaller, growth stage companies. 

Professor Weiss plans to discuss this public vs private dynamic, as well as assess todays private fundraising markets.

Professor Ira Weiss (Speaker) '99
Clinical Professor of Accounting and Entrepreneurship, Hyde Park Venture Partners

Professor Weiss is a Clinical professor at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he received both his MBA ('99) and Ph.D ('01). He also invests in start-ups via the Chicago-based VC firm called Hyde Park Venture Partners.
