Maureen DeRooij, '03 (Speaker)
Chief Executive Officer Asia-Pacific, ABN AMRO Bank

Ms. DeRooij is the CEO Asia-Pacific for ABN AMRO Bank and is based in Singapore where she also is Country Executive. ABN AMRO Bank's business in Asia-Pacific includes Corporate Advisory, Structured Debt Solutions and Financial Markets and focuses on client segments in the Natural Resources, Transportation, Food and Beverage, Trade and Commodity and Financial Institutions space. The bank also has Clearing operations in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Sydney and Singapore. Ms. DeRooij previously worked for Standard Chartered based in Singapore where she first started in 2005 as Global Head of Natural Resources and Commodity Trading and was later appointed as Group Chief Operating Officer for the Wholesale bank's Client Business covering 50 countries.

Before joining Standard Chartered Bank, Ms. DeRooij built the global structured commodity product capability for Citigroup based in New York and headed its Americas business. She was on the Board of Citigroup's International Trading Company as well as the Editorial Board of Euromoney's Trade Finance Magazine. Ms. DeRooij ran the North Americas Structured
Commodity Business five years earlier for ABN AMRO Bank based in Chicago. Ms. DeRooij commenced her career at ABN AMRO Bank in the Netherlands where she held a number of executive positions including that of Senior Risk Approver advising on large-scale structured transactions for Northeast Asia.

Ms. DeRooij holds a master's degree in Corporate Law (LLM) from the Rijksuniversiteit of Leiden and a MBA degree from Chicago Booth. 

Ms. DeRooij served on the Singapore Management University's (SMU) International Trading Track and Research Committee and is currently a member of the advisory board of SMU's Lee Kong Chian School of Business. She is on the Board of the Europe-Asean Business Alliance as well as the Singapore World Wildlife Fund. She is a frequent speaker and chairman of industry events organised by institutes such as the Financial Times, Dow Jones, Euromoney, Reuters, the American and European Chambers of Commerce, and occasionally provides commentary on Bloomberg and CNBC's Worldwide Exchange business news programme. She is a regular guest lecturer at INSEAD speaking on operational risk.
