Event Details

David and Sherry Kirchheimer have graciously invited Los Angeles Booth alumni to spend the afternoon at their residence. The Kirchheimers have built a play area for children and have restored a historic railroad that once ran throughout their property. The restored railroad was inaugurated as the Flintheim Railroad in 2011. Chicago Booth will provide pizza and refreshments for attendees.

Booth Fun Day is a great opportunity for Booth alumni to reconnect with other members of the Los Angeles Booth community. Given the intimate location and unique venue, space is limited, so please make sure to register in advance!

About Flintheim Railroad:
Flintheim Railroad seats five in its locomotive, two riding cars and caboose, traveling from its train station over two bridges, through a gold-mining tunnel and past a general store, miners' camp and windmill. The train is stored in a replica of Disneyland's Grizzly Flats Enginehouse, which was named for the garden railroad of local legend Ward Kimball, one of the so-called "Nine Old Men" of Disney who created the studio's classic animated films. Built in 2011, Flintheim was inspired by garden railroads long ago that were located on the same property and at the nearby homes of neighbors Ollie Johnston and Frank Thomas, two of the other original Disney animators. Walt Disney himself caught the train bug, leading to his own garden railroad and popular trains at all Disney theme parks save the newest one in Shanghai.
