Online collaboration is all around us, but can you take advantage of it for your professional and business success? In this workshop, you’ll explore some key tools and see how entrepreneurs and small businesses have used them successfully. From these cases you’ll learn what you need to do to make online collaboration work for you. Registration fee includes a sandwich buffet dinner.

We’ll cover: * Online Forums * Social networking tools (mass-market tools such as Facebook, and custom/specialized tools) * Wikis * Microblogging (e.g., Twitter and Yammer) Both collaboration within an enterprise and collaboration with outsiders (especially customers) will be discussed. You’ll leave inspired to try something new with a framework for success. This program extends the ideas developed in the earlier “Collaborations on Collaboration” but is completely accessible to people attending their first session.

Speaker Profiles

David Friedman (Panelist)
Principal, Bridgewell Partners

David Friedman develops new business processes for interacting with customers and for working much more effectively within organizations. He is a Principal of Bridgewell Partners, a firm that focuses on helping business people improve their most critical business relationships. David works with professionals and salespeople on improving their business development results. Prior to founding Bridgewell Partners, David was a partner at McKinsey and Company, Inc.

Rachel Kaberon (Panelist), Arkay Solutions LLC

Rachel Kaberon advances strategic decision-making by developing learning and leadership initiatives to further organizational effectiveness. Her independent consulting activities at Arkay Solutions blend principles of design and learning utilizing alternative technologies to leverage informal or formal collaborations. She also has extensive experience improving outcomes through her business development work with Internet start-ups and from designing and organizing innovative process and system applications for Citibank and Chase consumer banking. She holds an MA in Public Policy from University of Chicago and doctorate work in learning theory from National-Louis. In addition to her consulting practice, she is currently an adjunct at IIT ID teaching a design policy course.

Bill Balling (Panelist)
Managing Director, WRB, LLC

Bill Balling has over thirty-six years of professional management experience in Municipal Government. For over 29 years he served as Buffalo Grove’s Village Manager, during which period the village triple in size,. He’s been very active in leading regional collaborations for water, solid waste and for emergency services. Bill is now Managing Director of WRB, LLC Consulting, a management consulting firm for Cities and Villages WRB, LLC specializes in organizational analysis and development, Interim management services, municipal operating systems development and deployment, and special research consulting. Bill also serves as a co-chairman of the Citizen’s Advisory Committee to the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning and chairs the Committee on critical infrastructure for the Metropolitan Mayor’s Caucus. He is very active in the Rotary Club and its service projects. Bill Balling received his Liberal Arts degree from Elmhurst College and holds a Masters degree in Public Administration from Northern Illinois University. He has also been certified by the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
