Whether it’s distressed transactions via the bankruptcy courts or buying companies within distressed industries, the M&A market remains fraught with uncertainty. Significant buying power remains in private equity and corporate war chests but the leveraged loan market remain tight and prices aren’t cheap. So how are deals getting done in this environment? What are the best ways to navigate deals in bankruptcy? How has diligence changed under these circumstances? Simply put, how are deals getting done today? Our next roundtable will focus on today’s M&A market addressing these and many other issues.

Andrew Seger (Panelist)
Vice President, Frontenac Company

Mr. Seger joined Frontenac in 2002. Frontenac Company is a Chicago-based private investment firm founded in 1971. Frontenac invests in high-quality, closely-held companies, primarily in services businesses, partnering with experienced executives to acquire and grow successful mid-sized companies. Prior to joining Frontenac, Andy worked as an Analyst in the Mergers & Strategic Advisory Group at Goldman Sachs in New York and Chicago. He earned his B.S. in Finance from Indiana University, where he graduated with high distinction.

John Iwanski (Panelist)

John Iwanski is a Partner at Grant Thornton in Chicago with over eighteen years of experience in auditing, consulting and executive positions. Grant Thornton provides services to public and private clients in more than 100 countries and is one of the top six global audit, tax and advisory organizations. John specializes in performing buy-side and sell-side due diligence for financial and strategic buyers/sellers. John received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Mr. Lipke represents a full range of national and international clients for Vedder Price. Mr. Lipke concentrates on the representation of secured lenders and creditor rights with specialization in domestic and international equipment and aircraft leasing. He served as an Adjunct Professor of Bankruptcy Law at Loyola University School of Law in Chicago and is a frequent lecturer on reorganization, insolvency and bankruptcy issues throughout the country.
