The Tribune Co. put the Chicago Cubs up for sale on the day Lou Piniella managed his first game in a Cubs uniform, Opening Day in 2007. But the Cubs won back-to-back division titles since the team was put up for sale, and their $135 million payroll this year is the third-highest in baseball. Now the Ricketts family, longtime Cubs fans whose wealth comes from family-owned Ameritrade, have become the new owners of a 95 percent stake of the team and its Wrigley Field home, along with 25 percent of Comcast SportsNet Chicago. What does the $845 million deal mean for the fans, the franchise, and key players? Can baseball's longest streak without a World Series appearance be broken, or will the Cubs continued to be dogged by a goat? Find out when Tom and Pete Ricketts, both Chicago Booth alumni, speak at this year's Annual Meeting of the Chicago Booth Alumni club.
