Situated in the beautiful Napa Valley, Sterling Vineyards will host a small group of alumni for a private lunch and a presentation on the wine industry by Chicago Booth alumnus Ray Chadwick, President of Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines (biography below). After lunch, guests are welcome to take a leisurely self-guided tour throughout the property and partake in wine tasting, as well as a discount on wine purchases exclusively for Chicago Booth alumni.

Mr. Chadwick is President of Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines, the wines division of Diageo, the world’s leading premium drinks business. He has held this position since December 2001, when he assumed responsibility for the integrated wine operations of Guinness UDV North America and Seagram Chateau & Estate Wines. As President of Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines, Mr. Chadwick oversees an outstanding collection of wines from California, Washington, Australia, New Zealand, Italy and France. During his tenure, he has prompted much growth and change. He was instrumental in the acquisition of the Chalone Wine Group in 2005 and Rosenblum Cellars in 2008. He has overseen tremendous organic innovation of premium wines. Wine Enthusiast Magazine honored him with their Man of the Year award in 2008. Previously, Mr. Chadwick served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Seagram Chateau & Estate Wines Company, and concurrently as Managing Director of Barton & Guestier, S.A., and had functional responsibility for the finance function at the Seagram Beverage Company. Mr. Chadwick first joined Seagram in 1974 and worked in a variety of roles, including market research, sales and finance. He also spent time in London in an international marketing role for Brown-Forman. Mr. Chadwick served as integration leader when The Seagram Classics Wine Company and Seagram Chateau and Estate Wines Company were merged in 1996. He served as co-integration leader during the merger of Diageo and Seagram wine operations in 2001, which lead to the formation of Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines. Mr. Chadwick holds Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from the University of Virginia, as well as an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He also studied in France for several years, including a year in Bordeaux under the auspices of the Fulbright program. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Wine Institute.
