Did you see the movie Woman in Gold? Have you ever visited New York's Neue Gallery? They are linked by the Gustav Klimt work featured in the film, which is in the Neue Gallery's collection that also includes many other works by the Austrian painter Klimt, and his student Egon Schiele.
From September 22nd to January 16th, the Neue Gallery is hosting a special exhibition titled Klimt and the Women of Vienna's Golden Age, 1900–1918. Central to the exhibition will be the display of Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I (the Woman in Gold) and Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer II which Klimt painted five years later, being shown side-by-side for the first time since 2006. Adele Bloch-Bauer was an important Klimt patron and notably, the only subject the artist ever painted twice in full length.
To coincide with this exhibition, Chicago Booth Women's Network is pleased to announce that they will be hosting a lecture by 1982 Chicago Booth alumnus Robin (Gallagher) Hoffman of ArtScapades titled The Viennese Connection, which will focus on the lives and works of Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele. Robin Hoffman and Jodi Stiffelman cofounded ArtScapades in 2010 and have given art lectures at libraries and museums in Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, and New York.
