T. Russell Shields (Speaker) '67
Cofounder & Chairman, Ygomi LLC

Founding Shields Enterprises International (SEI) in 1969 following his education at Wichita State U (BA-Mathematics) and the University of Chicago (MA-History, MBA), he developed key information technology architecture for leading clients in both the private (Time, Inc., TransUnion, Motorola, Budget Rent a Car, and McDonalds) and public (US Veterans Administration, Social Security Administration, and CIA). SEI next expanded to support the back office of the cellular telephone industry, as well as location services and mapping/navigation. Navteq, its vehicle guidance unit, was sold to Nokia in 2008 in an $8.1 billion, all-cash transaction. Mr. Shields serves as chairman of his current company, Ygomi LLC, which conducts worldwide partnerships with vehicle and automotive electronics manufacturers, employing 200 people in 9 countries. Among his many honors, Mr. Shields was inducted in 2010 and as an inaugural member of the Intelligent Transport System World Congress Hall of Fame and awarded the Chicago Booth Distinguished Alumni Award for Entrepreneurship in 2008.
