  1. Trends: How are technology firms and millennials reshaping the real estate industry.
    a) Urbanisation impact – Greater mobility and increasing rental population in bigger cities (concentration of college educated workers is increasing in big cities leading to urban revival and concentration of talent. How is each player participating in this industry transformation).
    b) Startup Ecosystem shift and Third Wave of Internet – Shifts in startup map, both geographic (rise of China and decline of US pre-eminence) and economic (Fintech, Cybersercurity and Blockchain). Third Wave verticals (Uber for mobility or Airbnb for hospitality) and Deep Tech (AI, Big Data & Analytics, Life Sciences).
    c) Growth on data consumption and the 'cloud' – need for well connected facilities and data centers (Cloud Infrastructure – Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Facebook Open Compute Project).

Matthew Brown (Panelist)
Director European Acquisitions, WeWork Real Estate

Matthew Brown has over 10 years working in the London real estate market and has also worked internationally. Matthew has worked at WeWork for over 2 years primarily focusing on growing the businesses footprint in the UK and Ireland. During this time WeWork has experienced substantial growth and is now London's largest private tenant. Prior to WeWork, Matt worked as a leasing agent at JLL and as a Leasing Director for REM (landlords of the Shard and other high profile London assets).

He has a Bachelor's degree from University of Nottingham and an Estate Management degree from London Southbank University.

Philip Byun, '01 (Moderator)
Principal Asset Management, DRC Capital

Philip has 20 years of real estate and debt capital markets experience in US and Europe. At DRC Capital (a real estate debt fund), Philip oversees the asset management of all its investments totalling c.£2 bln covering all sectors (office, retail, student housing, residential, hotel, logistics). Since joining DRC over 4 years ago, Philip has played an instrumental role in the scaled growth of the business underpinned by operational discipline. This is evidenced by trifold growth in assets under management, diversification of real estate debt products, and recent 25% sale of the firm to Savills Investment Management.

Prior to DRC Capital LLP, Philip was VP of Special Servicing at Hatfield Philips in London being responsible for commercial real estate loans workout and acquisition underwriting. Before joining DRC Capital, Philip spent 9 years at ABN AMRO in debt capital markets and risk management. Prior to ABN AMRO, Philip was a rating analyst at Fitch. He has an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BS in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Philip is also a CFA charterholder.

Dan Madrigal, '96 (Panelist)
Corporate / Real Estate Development, Facebook

Dan has 20 years progressive experience in real estate development, portfolio management, strategic planning, deal structuring and operations in various industries (technology, biosciences, consumer packaged goods and banking). He has worked within corporate finance, private equity and investment banking groups (Bank of America, The Clorox Company, Amgen, Devonshire Investors, Equinix and currently at Facebook). In his roles, he has completed deals exceeding $4.2 billion in major international markets in the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.

He has a Bachelor's degree from University of Oxford and an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Alfredo Triviño (Panelist)
Founder & CEO, Audacity Partners

Founder & CEO of Audacity Partners, a London-based experience design and innovation studio focused on delivering enterprise culture marketing through extraordinary digital products, experiences and stories that help organisations to change.

In the age of AI and robots, Audacity Partners are content experts helping senior leaders in four key stages of their cultural transformation:
(1) To understand how relevant content (culture marketing) is for their business.
(2) To define a content strategy, and a brand content and distribution model.
(3) To create relevant content and content-driven products and experiences.
(4) To measure how successful content is to favour sales or engagement.

Triviño is also founder of LYXSTREET, which introduces the next generation of premium e-commerce —content and experience driven. LYXSTREET aims to accelerate conversion and increase the return on the investment on content already created.

Triviño spent 7 years in key senior management roles at News Corp, ultimately as Director of Innovation. Through radical new products he was instrumental in the global development of a pay model for digital journalism, and in imagining long-term editorial and commercial growth strategies.

In 2006, four years before the iPad, he invented the Newsbook —a device where to read newspapers, books, magazines. In 2008, three years before Pinterest, he created whatmakesme.me, which anticipated the appetite for a shopping-driven network built upon affinity of interests. In 2009, forecasting Siri, he prototyped for Vodafone an app called 'Love Fridays', an assistant that offered location and emotion-based experiences, through conversation. In 2012, he created a mobile media which inspired 2015 Snapchat's Discovery platform and experience.

He has a BA in Communication from University of Navarra and completed the Stanford Executive Program at Stanford Graduate School of Business.

William Lopez Campo, '18 (EXP-23) (Panelist)
Senior Business Consultant, Autodesk

William has over 15 years experience in the field of architectural design and technology implementation of construction projects covering education, residential and infrastructure sectors. In his current role at Autodesk, he helps large corporate clients with the strategy and implementation of Building Information Modelling (BIM), a technology-based approach to Design and Construction for several international corporates.

He has an Architecture degree from University of Buenos Aires and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
