Mark A Leahy, `89 (Panelist)

Mark A. Leahy is a partner at Fenwick & West LLP, a law firm specializing in technology and life sciences matters.
Mr. Leahy advises high technology companies, including software, telecommunications, semiconductor and other electronics companies. His practice includes start-up counseling, venture capital financings, public offerings, public company disclosure counseling, mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures.
Mr. Leahy represents a wide range of high technology companies, ranging from privately held start-ups to publicly traded companies. Among the clients he has represented are: Donnerwood Media, Inc, Intuit Inc, Novariant, Inc, Nuance Communications, Inc., SpectraLink Corporation, Synopsys, Inc., and Transmeta Corporation
Mr. Leahy is a member of the State Bar of California. He received his B.S. in industrial engineering in 1983 from Stanford University. He received his J.D. and M.B.A. in 1989 from Chicago Booth. Mr. Leahy worked as an engineer prior to attending law school.
Prashant Shah, `93 (Panelist)

Prashant Shah joined Hummer Winblad in December 2000. He has been instrumental in many investments including Baynote, Bridgestream, Cenzic, EvoStor, InMage, Jareva Technologies, Krillion, Scalent, SyncVoice, Tizor and Voltage Security. He also observes a number of these boards. In addition, Prashant is an active Charter Member of TiE Silicon Valley (www.tiesv.org), where he is Chair of the Software SIG; and a member of the Board of Trustees for Astia (www.astia.org).
Prior to Hummer Winblad, Prashant spent many years defining and launching high tech products. His background spans all seven layers of the OSI stack with product management roles at enCommerce (acquired by Entrust), Cypress Semiconductor and AT&T. Prashant received a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and an MBA from the Chicago Booth School of Business.
Greg Smitherman, `88 (Panelist)
COO, mKlik
Greg Smitherman brings a wealth of experience working with early and midsized companies in a range of industries. Greg has worked both sides of the table as a CEO, venture capitalist, executing turnarounds, and as a M&A specialist. He has returned over $1.3 billion in profits to his investors in the networking, manufacturing, telecommunications, wireless, data center, storage, and Internet industries.
Greg is currently on the board and is the COO at mKlik, a mobile video start-upp company. In addition, Greg’s consulting firm, The Remarkable Group, works with early to midsized companies to grow them to the next level: from initial business plan development, to building a successful management team, to strategic exits. Greg received a BS in aerospace engineering, summa cum laude, from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
