But since his era, what progress has been made and remains to be achieved towards economic opportunity via the self help efforts of entrepreneurship by the historically deprived? How can the payoffs from support targeted to such be magnified and accelerated? And how does increased workplace diversity benefit all organizations?
Join us to hear two business owners whose personal experiences bear witness to such questions. Their presentations will review the evolution of local conditions and the related impacts at both the individual and social levels. As part of our audience you will be informed about important issues like:

AAR has developed technology infrastructure and proprietary software management tools for major corporations and government agencies since 1999. Arabel is also the co-founder/principal of Latino Fashion Week, the only full week program and tour dedicated to Latino fashion in the U.S. She serves on boards such as the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Women's Business Development Center and has won over 30 local and national awards for her civic and business contribution. Arabel earned her bachelor's degree in business administration from Loyola University-Chicago and her JD from DePaul University College of Law.

Ava has led her retained executive search/development/retention firm focused on senior executive and board level talent since 2002. She had previously worked for two decades in increasingly responsible roles across a wide range of business functions in the global petrochemical industry for BP Amoco. She is active in community leadership with special distinction at alumni organizations, being a recipient of Northwestern University's 2009 Alumni Service Award. Frequently sought as a public speaker, she has often been featured in print and electronic media. Ava earned a BS in Chemical Engineering at Northwestern University and a MBA from Chicago Booth.
