Michael Belkin (Speaker)
Author, The Belkin Report
Michael Belkin is a financial market strategist and author of the Belkin Report - a weekly global forecasting service which advises hedge funds, pension funds, investment banks, mutual funds, sovereign wealth funds and family offices throughout North America, Europe and Asia. The Belkin Report has been published since 1992. Previously, Mr. Belkin was a vice president in the NYC equity department of Salomon Brothers. His role was quantitative strategist in global macro proprietary trading, developing and applying innovative quantitative forecasting models in a four-man unit that managed the firm's global equity proprietary trading exposure. Mr. Belkin is a graduate of the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business.
Dr. Kathryn L. Dewenter (Speaker) '93
Associate Professor of Finance and Joshua Green Family Endowed Professor, Foster School of Business, University of Washington
Kathy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Finance and Business Economics at University of Washington Foster School of Business. She teaches two courses, International Finance and Competing in the Global Economy. Her research focuses on empirical analysis of economic and corporate finance models in an international context. Topics of interest include cross-border acquisitions, privatization, business groups, sovereign wealth funds, and bank performance. Prior to academia, she spent two years in the Asia Division of Chemical Bank and three years with McKinsey and Co., Inc. She has a PhD from The University of Chicago, an MBA and MA in International Policy Studies from Stanford University, and a BA from Tufts University.
Dennis Gibb (Speaker)
Chief Investment Officer, Sweetwater Investments
During his 30 year career in the investment industry, Dennis Gibb has been involved in every type of market condition and industry change. He began his career working for H. Ross Perot, was a retail broker at Dean Witter, and has held senior positions both at Morgan Stanley and Bear Stearns. In addition to his retail experience, Dennis has also been an institutional fixed income salesman, a compliance officer, an investment banker, and an assistant office manager.
Dennis is the principal shareholder of Sweetwater Investments a registered investment advisor since 1989. Sweetwater is dedicated to serving individual investors in planning their lives and managing their financial affairs to accomplish
their goals.
Dennis is a cum laude graduate of Parsons College with degrees in Sociology,
History, and Psychology. His graduate studies at the University of Chicago
were interrupted by his military service, including a tour to Vietnam.
Dennis has frequently testified before both the Congressional House and Senate
on investment-related matters as well as to the Securities and Exchange Commission. He has been a guest commentator on CNBC and hosted a radio show
with 9 million listeners.
