Speaker Profiles

Richard Fahey (Panelist) '79, Skoll Foundation

Richard Fahey (MBA'79) leads the Skoll Foundation's financial and operations functions as Chief Operating Officer, including business planning, measurement, controls and services; tax compliance and reporting; and benefits and human resource processes. He also contributes to the fulfillment of the foundation's mission.

Richard has more than 20 years of experience in financial and operations management with Hewlett-Packard, most recently as Finance Director for HP Services, where he was responsible for global financial policies and compliance in areas such as revenue recognition and expenditure controls. He also led several infrastructure initiatives that contributed in excess of $50 million in cost savings to HP's bottom line. In addition, Richard served as Controller for a $200 million global profit center and for HP's worldwide procurement operations, and managed the order fulfillment and logistics functions for HP's Latin America region.
As a Research Analyst with the Federal Reserve Board, Richard modeled the relationship between interest rates and inflation expectations.

Richard earned a bachelor's degree in economics and history from Georgetown University and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Chicago.

Courtney Hemphill (Panelist)
Partner and Tech Lead, Carbon Five

Courtney Hemphill (AB'99) is a Partner and Tech Lead at Carbon Five in San Francisco, CA. Over the past 10+ years, Courtney has worked on teams of developers and designers using full stack technology on web and mobile projects for clients including Autodesk, Skype, SFMOMA, and Sharethrough.

An outspoken advocate for integrating design processes into quick development cycles, Courtney and the teams at Carbon Five are focused on crafting applications that are tested automatically through code as well as through interactions with real customers. She also coaches and speaks about techniques that optimize this feedback loop.

Courtney coordinates Carbon Five's Tinderbox events, the SOTP Innovation Series with Autodesk and frequently contributes to the Women Who Code and RailsBridge organizations. She often travels to speak and mentor at both design and development conferences such as SXSW, HTML5DevConf, ForwardJS, and GOTO Conferences worldwide. Courtney also finds a healthy amount of time to unplug from the internets, traveling in search of the best rock climbing spots in the world, always returning to her primary stomping ground in Yosemite Valley.

Krisztina Kohlhaa (Panelist) '08

Krisztina Kohlhaas (MBA'08) is a coach to leaders and business owners throughout the world. She partners with ambitious people to help them uplevel their businesses, exponentially boost their earnings, and become dynamic and collaborative leaders, communicators, and role models of high integrity. Working with Krisztina, her clients have launched scores of businesses and generated millions in revenue. An adventurer herself, Krisztina has lived in 9 countries on 4 continents and has traveled to over 60. She holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, an MA from the George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs, a BA from the University of California San Diego, and is Past President of the San Francisco Bay Area chapter of the International Coach Federation. Krisztina works by invitation only with a handful of highly engaged clients at a time. By night she is also the lead singer in the rock band Sole Survivor.

Rajesh F. Krishnan (Panelist) '01, GroundWork

Rajesh F. Krishnan (MBA'01) is an experienced marketer and product manager who has developed, launched, and sold a wide variety of software products. At GroundWork, he focuses on new business development and emerging technologies for inclusion into GroundWork products by investigating new needs for customers and others in the marketplace. He has experience in cloud, storage, and data center technology dating back to IBM's earliest storage virtualization products, which went from 0 to 1000 customers in its first year.

Prior to GroundWork, Rajesh held product management and marketing roles at Certain, Inc., and InVisM. He graduated from Stanford University and Chicago Booth, where he was a Siebel Scholar.

Maggie Wu (Panelist) '87
CEO and Founder, eChoiceAdvisor

Maggie Wu (MBA'87) is CEO and Founder of eChoiceAdvisor, a search engine that helps consumers simplify health insurance plan choices based on large scale consumer surveys. Maggie graduated from Chicago Booth with a MBA in 1987 and a BA in Economics from UC Berkeley in 1982. Maggie organizes reunions dinners and seminar programs for Chicago Booth. She is also a board member of the University of Chicago San Francisco Alumni Club and San Francisco Region Co-Chair of University of Chicago Life Science Affinity Group.

Lily C. Yang (Panelist)

Lily C. Yang (PhD'76) is serial entrepreneur and a business manager plus global business development between United States, Europe and Asian Pacific. She is experienced in the diagnostics, biopharmaceuticals, therapeutics, pharmaceuticals, and cell therapeutics industry sectors. Yang's work experience includes Dupont, Hewlett Packard, and Asian Biomedical Development. Yang is currently CEO/President of TheraLife Inc.- Metro Chair of Life Science Affinity Group- UChicago, San Francisco Bay Area - created "Center for Leadership Development" for coaching and career development for UChicago Alumni.
