Join us for a riveting two-part presentation by a pair of the most recognized thought leaders in the investment industry, Tom Coleman and Larry Siegel, who will first cover a brief and colorful history of investment risk followed by how we should think about investment risk going forward. Note that these two presentations will be preceded by Larry giving a brief 15-20 minute update on the CFAI's Research topics, both completed and in the pipeline with a special invitation to audience members to suggest topics for future Research Foundation research.

Thomas S. Coleman is Senior Advisor at the Becker Friedman Institute for Research in Economics and Adjunct Professor of Finance at the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago. Prior to returning to academia in 2012, Mr. Coleman worked in the finance industry for more than twenty years with considerable experience in trading, risk management, and quantitative modeling. Author of Quantitative Risk Management (Wiley) and A Practical Guide to Risk Management (Research Foundation of the CFA Institute), Mr. Coleman earned his PhD in economics from the University of Chicago and his BA in physics from Harvard College.

Research Director, Research Foundation of CFA Institute
Laurence B. Siegel is research director of the Research Foundation of CFA Institute and senior advisor at Ounavarra Capital LLC. From 1994 to 2009 he was director of research at the Ford Foundation. Before that, he was a founding partner of Ibbotson Associates. Larry serves on the board of the Q Group and as an investment committee member or advisor for a number of nonprofit organizations. Larry is the author, co-author, or editor of six books and more than a hundred journal articles and book chapters. He graduated from the college of the University of Chicago in 1975 and from the Booth School of Business in 1977.
