Chicago GSB and Wharton alumni and guests are invited to a special program featuring Dr. Jeremy Siegel, Russell Palmer Professor of Finance, The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. The program will feature Dr. Jeremy Siegel's perspectives in areas including the outlook for stocks in the short and long term and how to invest intelligently on a global basis. The presentation will be followed by Q&A.

Jeremy Siegel is the Russell E. Palmer Professor of Finance at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He graduated from Columbia University in 1967, received his Ph.D. in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1971, and spent one year as a National Science Foundation Post-Doctoral Fellow at Harvard University. Prof. Siegel taught for four years at the Graduate School of Business of the University of Chicago before joining the Wharton faculty in 1976. Prof. Siegel has written and lectured extensively about the economy and financial markets, has appeared frequently on CNN, CNBC, NPR and others networks. He is a regular columnist for Kiplinger’s and Yahoo! Finance and has contributed articles to The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, The Financial Times and other national and international news media. Prof. Siegel served for 15 years as head of economics training at JP Morgan and is currently the academic director of the U.S. Securities Industry Institute. Prof. Siegel is the author of numerous professional articles and three books. His best known, Stocks for the Long Run, which published its third edition in 2002, was named by the Washington Post as one of the ten-best investment books of all time. His current book, The Future for Investors: Why the Tried and the True Triumph over the Bold and New, was published by Crown Business in March 2005 and was named one of the best business books published in 2005 by Business Week, the Financial Times, and Barron’s magazine.

Dr. Charles Plosser is the president and chief executive officer of the Philadelphia Federal Reserve. He is a voting member of the Federal Reserve System’s Federal Open Market Committee, which is responsible for conducting our nation’s monetary policy. Before joining the Philadelphia Fed in August 2006, Dr. Plosser was an economics professor at the University of Rochester’s William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration, where he also served as dean from 1993 to 2003. During his career, he has been a visiting scholar at the Bank of England and the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. His research and teaching interests include monetary and fiscal policy, long-term economic growth, and banking and financial markets. He was co-editor of the Journal of Monetary Economics for 20 years and currently acts as co-editor of Carnegie-Rochester Conference Series on Public Policy. He has served as a consultant to numerous companies including Chase Manhattan Bank, the Eastman Kodak Company, and The Wyatt Company. He was a member of the New York State Board of Economic Advisors and served on the board of directors of ViaHealth Inc. and RGS Energy Group. He has served on advisory boards of the Rochester New Enterprise Forum, the Chase Manhattan Bank, and the University Technology Seed Fund, LLC. He earned MBA and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Chicago.
