The media's portrayal of Pakistan as a dangerous place devalues the possibilities of doing business in this South Asian country. While doing business can be daunting in a country defined by corruption and callous politicians, Pakistan is ripe with opportunity. A former counter-terrorism analyst and current instructor on all-things, Pakistan for the U.S. government, our speaker Farhana Qazi will examine the political, social and economic environments inside Pakistan.
By weaving stories of successful entrepreneurs, Qazi makes it clear that starting an enterprise in a vulnerable nation-state could be a risk worth taking. And it might promote better relations between two precarious partners, Washington and Islamabad.

The Pakistan Club, now in its 9th year, started out as an alumni organization at Chicago Booth. Over the years, we have partnered with other divisions for our programming as well as activities. Now, we have members from all divisions of the University, including current students, alumni, and faculty. We have conducted Admissions sessions, high-profile presentations by senior corporate executives, policy makers, and academics (including one Nobel Laureate economist). We also hosted a highly successful investment conference about Pakistan and another one about the emerging opportunities in the Silk Road countries.
