What cultural values can we draw on to foster a deep and textured conversation between the United States and the People's Republic of China? In this presentation, Dwight Hopkins explores the idea that, to build a healthy global community, both countries must appreciate the important cultural values that each gives as a gift to the world. How do we bring these two economic powers into dialogue? Rather than starting with doctrinal, ideological, political, or economical disputes, Hopkins argues that we want to foster a conversation by appreciating the persisting values in both countries.
Dwight Hopkins is a professor of theology and director of MA studies in the Divinity School at the University of Chicago. He has edited and written many works, including Being Human: Race, Culture, and Religion.
