David Yates (Speaker) '87
Regional Head - North America, Nestle HealthCare Nutrition, INC

David Yates is the Regional Business Head of North America for Nestlé HealthCare Nutrition, a leading healthcare nutrition company with institutional and retail brands such as BOOST®, OPTIFAST®, PEPTAMEN®, RESOURCE® and CARNATION BREAKFAST ESSENTIALS®. David has lead the integration of two organizations following the acquisition of Novartis Medical Nutrition by Nestlé S.A. At Novartis Medical Nutrition, Inc., he was the Regional Business Head for North America and previously held the same position in Europe.

David joined Novartis in 1996 with the Gerber Products Business Unit as Marketing Director and successfully advanced to the North American Region Head.

Prior to joining Novartis, David worked for Bayer AG and Alberto Culver in marketing and business development roles, both in the United States and internationally.

David holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Master of Business Administration in Marketing and Finance, both from the University of Chicago.

Dr. Juan Ochoa (Speaker)
Chief Medical Officer, Nestle HealthCare Nutrition, INC

Dr. Juan B. Ochoa graduated from medical school in his native country Colombia. He began his career as a general practitioner and then became interested in a surgical residency. He completed his general surgery residency-training program at the University Hospital St. Vincent DePaul in Medellin, Colombia graduating with honors in his research. He later came to the United States to pursue his interests in basic research. In 1996 he completed his training and a fellowship in Multidisciplinary Critical Care and decided to take the challenge of becoming an assistant professor of surgery at the University of Kentucky. In 2001, Dr. Ochoa was invited to the University of Pittsburgh where he rapidly progressed to become a tenured Professor of Surgery and Critical Care and Medical Director for Trauma. Dr. Ochoa also continued to develop an independent NIH funded laboratory focusing on understanding the mechanisms of arginine deficiency in trauma/surgery. In 2010 Dr. Ochoa became Chief Medical Officer for Nestlé HealthCare Nutrition - North America. He has published over 100 manuscripts in peer reviewed medical journals, and chapters in major reference books and still finds time to lead several initiatives to provide cost-effective high-quality delivery of nutritional support to surgical and critically ill patients.
