Weston Smith joined HealthSouth in 1987, from the Birmingham, Alabama office of Ernst & Young. During his tenure the company grew from 13 to over 2000 locations, in all 50 states, plus Puerto Rico, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Saudi Arabia. Weston eventually rose to the rank of CFO in 2001. During its meteoric rise, HealthSouth's public persona was sparkling, but its internal operations became increasingly mired under a veil of greed, pressure and corruption.

While accepting responsibility for his own actions, Weston comments that "I hope that people will hear my story and perhaps either know what to look for in possible workplace financial deceit, or think twice about their own decision making processes with regards to such." Weston has been featured on CNBC and as a guest of Neil Cavuto on the Fox Business Channel.
