Aliber for his insightful economic forecast as well as Pedro Aspe, Former Minister of Finance. Robert Z. Aliber has written extensively about exchange rates and international financial and banking relationships and policy problems.

Robert Z. Aliber (Speaker)
Professor Emeritus of International Economics and Finance, Chicago Booth School of Business
Robert Z. Aliber has written extensively about exchange rates, and international financial and banking relationships and policy problems. Publications include The Reconstruction of International Monetary Arrangements (ed., Macmillan, 1986), The Handbook of International Financial Management (ed. Dow Jones Irwin, 1989),. and Global Portfolios (co-editor, Business One Irwin, 1991). He is a co-author of Money, Banking, and the Economy (Norton, First Edition, 1981, Fourth Edition 1990), Manias, Panics, and Crashes: A History of Financial Crises (Palgrave MacMillan, 2005), and author of The International Money Game (Palgrave MacMillan, 2001).
While at Chicago, he developed the Program of International Studies in Business and the Center for Studies in International Finance. He has consulted to the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and to other U.S. government agencies, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, and to the research institutes and private firms, testified before committees of the Congress, and lectured extensively in the United States and abroad.
Pedro Aspe (Speaker)
Former Minister of Finance
Pedro Aspe founded Protego Asesores in 1996, a boutique investment bank. He sits on the board of directors of McGraw Hill Companies and Axa S.A. de C.V. He is also a member of the advisory board of Marvin & Palmer. Mr. Aspe is a member of the advisory board of the International Studies Department at Stanford University, the Center for Economic and Political Studies at Claremont University, the Executive Committee of the Mexican Center at the University of Texas at Austin, and Advisory Committee of the Economics Department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is currently a professor of economics at ITAM. He is also a member of the board of directors of Pronatura A.C. and an advisor to Programa Generadoras of Ingreso in Nuevo Leon, a micro credit initiative. Mr. Aspe was Minister of Finance (1988-1994), Budget Minister (1987-1988) and founding President of INEGI (1982-1985). He holds a bachelors degree in Economics from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) and a PhD in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
