You've read the books, heard the podcast and radio segments, seen the movie--now, experience "the hidden side of everything" live with alumni, parents, and friends from UChicago! Freakonomics Radio host Stephen J. Dubner comes to the Fitzgerald Theatre stage primed with stories of the things you always thought you knew but didn't, and the things you never thought you wanted to know, but do. His Freakonomics coauthor, economist Steven D. Levitt, is a St. Paul native and will join Dubner on stage exclusively for this event. Be prepared for a lively and unpredictable performance exploring real-world behavior through the tools of economics. Be sure to join alumni, parents, and friends early at Great Waters Brewing Co. for happy hour specials until 6pm! Even if you can't stay for the show, come by and grab a beverage with alums from all eras and programs! Cash bar.

Event Details

Stephen J. Dubner is an award-winning author, journalist, and TV personality. His coauthored books with Levitt, Freakonomics and SuperFreakonomics, have sold more than five million copies in 35 languages and spawned a widely read blog and the documentary Freakonomics: The Movie. Freakonomics Radio, a coproduction of American Public Media and WNYC, began in fall 2010 and now offers a weekly podcast and biweekly segments on Marketplace.


Dubner is the author of numerous other books and has written for the New York Times, the New Yorker, Time, and many others. He has appeared widely on TV, most often on ABC and PBS, but also on the reality show Beauty and the Geek. Alas, he played neither beauty nor geek.
