Event Details

The reception will start with a special welcome from Mr. Dominic Grieve MP, who has kindly accepted to host the event. Mrs. Patricia Parker MBE, Chairman of the charity Kids for Kids, will give us an overview of Kids for Kids' community-led initiatives in North Darfur, Sudan. Our guest of honour, Lord Howell of Guildford, Deputy Leader of the Opposition and Foreign Policy Spokesman in the House of Lords, will then give the keynote speech. Prior to his current positions, Lord Howell was Secretary of State for Energy and for Transport in the UK Government, as well as being an economist and journalist. He will speak on "New themes in economics and globalisation for the 21st century". The Reception will be attended by various members of the Houses of Parliament. Co-sponsored by Kids for Kids - the only organisation helping children living in remote villages in Darfur through simple but life changing projects identified and run by the communities themselves.

Other Information

Admittance by confirmed invitation only - please bring a print-out of it with you. The House of Commons will be sitting, which should make the event more interesting (many MPs present in the building, discussions about bills being voted...). However, for security reasons, visiting the rest of the building will not be possible.
