Bull vs Bear Market Debate
We live in an exceedingly complex world, and making sense of the daunting amount of information that bombards us every minute of the day, 24/7, on the performance and interaction of the world’s economies (and their political components) and financial markets is obviously quite difficult. This is especially the case after the economic and market events of 2008, which still exert an impact on our current markets. Consequently, making informed decisions regarding our investments and strategies in such an environment is a challenging test – especially when information can be interpreted in seemingly contradictory ways (and market commentators don’t always seem to provide much clarity and help!).

Brad Summers joins us again, and will provide an intriguing presentation format: he will review the last year’s financial market and macro-economic performance, as well as the data indicator readings in the prevailing environment, and interpret them from each of a Bull and Bear perspective. From these “dueling” stand-points, an understanding of the full range of risks and opportunities available in the current global environment will become apparent. This approach can be an effective exercise to help develop a coherent investment strategy that: a) identifies the opportunities, and how to take advantage of them, as well as b) ascertains the “tail risks,” and how to mitigate them.
