Torsten Slok, Ph.D (Speaker)

Torsten Slok joined Apollo Global Management in August 2020. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Slok worked for 15 years on the sell-side, where his team was top-ranked by Institutional Investor in fixed income and equities for ten years, including #1 in 2019. Previously he worked at the OECD in Paris in the Money and Finance Division and the Structural Policy Analysis Division. Before joining the OECD he worked for four years at the IMF in the Division responsible for writing the World Economic Outlook and the Division responsible for China, Hong Kong, and Mongolia.

Mr. Slok studied at University of Copenhagen and Princeton University. He frequently appears in the media (CNBC, Bloomberg, WSJ, NYT, FT), and he has published numerous journal articles and reviews on economics and policy analysis, including in Journal of International Economics, Journal of International Money and Finance, and The Econometric Journal.

Tim Bass (Speaker) '94

Tim Bass founded Hickory CRE Capital in 2018. Hickory is a stretch senior and mezzanine lending platform focused on commercial real estate. He was previously a Partner at DW Partners; a Director in Barclays' distressed credit trading business; a VP at Pardus Capital, an activist and distressed credit investing hedge fund; and a deal lawyer at Debevoise & Plimpton. He began his career in credit at Chemical Bank. Mr. Bass has an MBA and JD from the University of Chicago and an undergraduate degree from Yale University, he also received the CFA designation.

Priya Parrish is the Managing Partner of Private Equity at Impact Engine, a venture capital and private equity firm investing in companies driving positive impact in economic empowerment, education, environmental sustainability, and health. She is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Strategy and Impact Investor in Residence at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and serves as an adviser to investment firms and asset owners developing and managing impact investment strategies. Prior to joining Impact Engine, she served as Chief Investment Officer at Schwartz Capital Group, a single-family office investing across global markets. Previously, Parrish was Strategy Head at Aurora Investment Management, a multibillion-dollar hedge fund, and managed development of investment products that incorporated environmental, social and governance factors (ESG) at Northern Trust Asset Management and KLD Research & Analytics. Parrish holds a B.S. in Business Management from Babson College and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Jared Nagae is a Principal of Quilvest Capital Partners. Quilvest Capital Partners is a global family office with multiple strategies. Jared works on the direct investment team, focusing on the middle market private equity in North America. Jared works on sourcing, executing and portfolio management of direct buyout and growth investments. Prior to joining Quilvest in 2010, Jared worked as an Analyst at Lazard Middle Market in the Food and Agriculture and the Industrials groups. Jared holds a B.S. in Economics and International Studies from Northwestern University and a M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with concentrations in accounting and entrepreneurship.

Chris Moore (Speaker)
CIO for Not-for-Profit Segment, Mercer

Chris Moore is the Chief Investment Officer for the firm's Not-for-Profit segment. He is responsible for investment activities in the NFP segment, including overseeing asset allocation, manager selection, and strategy implementation for both advisory and delegated clients.

Prior to its acquisition by Mercer 2018, Chris was with Summit Strategies Group for 11 years and was a Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer of the firm. His experience includes working with multiple client types including: endowments, foundations, health care systems, and insurance funds. He was responsible for leading the firm's strategic and tactical asset allocation recommendations and managing Summit's risk management infrastructure. In his early days with Summit Strategies Group, Chris co-led the hedge fund group where he had co-responsibility for manager selection and portfolio construction. Prior to joining Summit in 2007, Chris worked for NISA Investment Advisors where he was a fixed income portfolio manager and trader. Chris holds a BS in Biochemical Engineering from the University of Missouri and an MBA from Washington University's John M. Olin School of Business. He is a CFA and CAIA charter holder and a member of the CFA Society of St. Louis.
