The international community is at a critical point in its attempt to replace the Kyoto Accord with a durable, global agreement. What are the prospects for success and what does this mean for domestic policy? Escalating energy demand in the rapidly industrializing world, especially China and India, is putting pressure on supply and price, especially for petroleum. How will global demand affect US markets and consumers? China in particular is taking a lead in energy technology innovation and the US is in danger of relinquishing its role in the global market place. What can we do to preserve an American edge.
Working to create a space for The Chicago Council in the current national and international energy debates, Stephen Brick will argue that these factors cannot be minimized by US policymakers and the business community. Steve draws upon 30 years of experience in the energy world, honed most recently at the Joyce Foundation and the Energy Center of Wisconsin.
