Games are the most quickly growing cultural form of the early twenty-first century. Estimates put the number of gamers worldwide at approximately 2.2 billion. This number includes people who play card games, board games, videogames, mobile games, and more. Join University of Chicago professor and vice provost Melissa Gilliam for a Social Impact Leadership Series talk on the emergence of "serious games" that use game mechanics and interactive dynamics to teach players about topics ranging from history to politics to public health.

A group of interdisciplinary researchers from the Game Changer Chicago Design Lab at the University of Chicago will describe their work at the University of Chicago using serious games to address public health and youth development.
