As political unrest and advances in automation threaten job security, people are increasingly expecting business to ease their fears and lead the way forward. In fact, according to the Edelman Trust Barometer, 76% say CEOs should take the lead on change and 58% say they look to their employer to be a trustworthy source of information about societal issues.

Kristen Coughlin and Jennifer Thomas will present the findings from the 2019 Edelman Trust Barometer and discuss how CEOs and business leaders can address concerns about the changing world of work, prepare workforces — and society — for the future, and take actions that build trust inside and outside their organizations.

As head of Edelman Intelligence's Chicago office, Kristen is well-versed in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, and leads some of Edelman Intelligence's fastest growing client accounts. She has conducted reputation and brand trackers, message testing, customer segmentation, and choice analysis – as well as focus groups and in-depth interviews.

Prior to EI, Kristen developed custom research programs at IEG, a WPP sports marketing agency. She also focused on quantitative survey research at MaritzCX, and worked for two Washington DC-based polling firms.

Jennifer Thomas (Speaker)
Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications, Edelman
https://www.edelman.com

Jennifer currently leads a global team on a long-term business transformation project, supporting a portfolio expansion and realignment. Her work includes actively supporting c-suite leadership, shaping culture for the organization, creating brand strategy and leveraging key moments in time as internal and external storytelling opportunities.

Since joining Edelman, Jennifer also spearheaded communications programming for Navistar, charged with rebuilding the truck-maker's reputation following an engine emissions issue that damaged their business and reputation with investors and customers. Through an aggressive storytelling initiative, the company's positive share of voice increased dramatically, climbing to an average 31.3 percent from 10 percent in less than one year.
