Our Guest Speaker will be Tom Yoritaka, '98

Tom Yoritaka is a London-based venture capital investor, a non-executive director/interim executive/advisor for startups & a former corporate executive at global technology companies. He is a Founder & Managing Partner at Apricot Venture Capital, a pan-European VC firm investing in deep-tech startups in the region. He sits on boards of a number of European & Asian startups in his personal capacity. He also advises several industry advocacy organisations, including Pitch@Palace under the auspices of HRH the Duke of York, in the UK.

Tom was the former Global Managing Director of Cisco Entrepreneurs in Residence (Cisco EIR) – the company's corporate venturing group for early-stage companies. As the global head of Cisco EIR, he worked with startups innovating in IoT, AI, big data, cloud, cybersecurity & blockchain. Cisco EIR provided startups with opportunities to build strategic relationships with Cisco Business Units & executives, co-working space, software, financial support & potential strategic investments from Cisco. He was previously the Senior Director & General Manager of Social Solutions & Platforms, building & managing Cisco's Web software products designed to advance social interactions, knowledge management & collaboration for Cisco customers & partners.

Prior to joining Cisco, Tom held various executive & leadership positions at Yahoo! & Microsoft. He also worked as a strategy consultant at The Boston Consulting Group & McKenna Group. He holds a master's degree from Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government, an MBA with honors from Chicago Booth & an undergraduate degree in applied mathematics, statistics & economics with honors from Northwestern University.
