Event Details

We are delighted to invite you to our celebration of Pro Bono Economics volunteering, to praise the work of our skilled volunteers and the charities we support. The event will kindly be hosted by our partners at Chicago Booth, and will consist of presentations from two charities and a panel discussion.

This year, we will hear presentations from Sophie Livingstone (City Year CEO) and Power to Change Trust. Our panel, involving our Chairman Lord Gus O'Donnell, Peter Kellner (NCVO), a government official and an academic, will discuss key learnings and challenges from PBE's interactions with these organisations, and link this to broader debate on community, business and volunteering in the UK.

Our charities

City Year UK is a leading youth and education charity and the only coordinated opportunity for full time volunteering within English schools. PBE's report looks at the costs and benefits of full time volunteering in the UK to inform a government advisory panel which will look to make legislative changes to the rights of full time volunteers. City Year hopes that this will encourage more young people to consider giving back to their country like so many do in Germany, France and the US.

Power to Change Trust with a £150 million endowment from Big Lottery Fund, Power to Change is supporting community businesses to create better places across England. PBE is helping PTCT to unlock the potential of community assets by making an economic case for community asset transfer.

We look forward to welcoming you on Tuesday 7th November at Chicago Booth.
