About the exhibition and the artist:
Meijer de Haan (1852-1895) was a promising Dutch Jewish painter in the late 19th century. He moved to Paris in the last few years of his life, where he worked closely with Paul Gauguin. He was a regular correspondent with Theo van Gogh, Vincent van Gogh’s brother, and thought to be extremely influential in his work. This exciting exhibition, which was initiated by the JHM, under the lead of curator Jelka Kröger and which took several years to organize, is a partnership with the Musée d’Órsay in Paris and the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Quimper, where it will be shown under the title, “Le maître caché, Meijer de Haan”. The purpose of this exhibition is to introduce De Haan’s works to a broader audience.
€60pp includes an informal dinner, private lecture by JHM Director Joël Cahen and Jelka Kröger, Curator and guided tour of the museum.
