Join fellow Booth alumni for a highly interactive lunch discussion of current issues in economics, finance, and public policy, based on the weekly online commentary published by Professors Gary Becker and Richard Posner on their blog at (www.becker-posner-blog.com).
The November 4 discussion will focus on the predicted recovery from the current economic contraction. The recessions in China, India, Brazil, and a few other countries have ended, and it strongly looks like the US and the world recessions are also over. How important were monetary and fiscal policies instituted during the past year in preventing a far more serious recession? How will the new regulations to monitor executive pay affect the recovery? Will the recovery be flat or 'v' shaped? Come and discuss these and other aspects of the economic recovery with your fellow alumni.
The discussions will be anchored by online commentaries by Professors Becker & Posner listed below(Click on register online below to view the page).
The meeting format is based on our highly-successful Friday morning strategic management discussions where participants are invited to read a short selection of readings and then contribute to a one-hour facilitated discussion on the selected topic. Registration for these Chicago loop (LaSalle Street) discussions is limited to twenty people so that everyone has ample opportunity to participate in the conversation. The registration fee includes a box lunch.
