Event Details
Since the start of the recession, has there been a pull-back in the international expansion of mid-market companies? With a focus on examples from the greater Chicago area, is there evidence that sizable middle market companies are putting less emphasis on their investment and trade outside of North America? If so, is this likely to be a temporary trend that will begin to change as the economy recovers? Mid-market companies are more stretched for resources than their larger counterparts, due to the broader roles taken-on by members of their leaner business teams, greater concentration of hands-on involvement among “C-Level” executives and lack of internal capabilities for cross-border expansion, including more limited access to international legal, accounting and other expertise. Are constraints on such resources, coupled with pressure from boards and other stakeholders, leading companies to stick closer to home? The speakers will draw upon their experiences serving internationalizing companies and their work with the international initiatives of Chicago’s Association for Corporate Growth (ACG).
