Using the creative process as an internal analyses tool, John Michael Schert helps corporate and civic leaders better develop an understanding of the balance of motivations from the intrinsic (purpose, emotion, passion) and the extrinsic (data, systems, regulations). Key issues covered include:

Schert approaches issues as a ballet dancer who has translated his artistic process into a creative discipline for businesses and states the utility the creative process plays in decision-making. John Michael Schert (Speaker)
Chicago Booth Visiting Artist and Social Entrepreneur
John Michael serves as the inaugural Visiting Artist and Social Entrepreneur at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and as an Executive Producer of Treefort Music Fest. He is an artist and producer working in multiple sectors and translating across many platforms. Originally from South Georgia, Schert began his career as a ballet dancer with American Ballet Theatre and Alonzo King LINES Ballet. In 2004 he co-founded Trey McIntyre Project (TMP), serving as the company's Executive Director, and a dancer, for nine years. During this time he gained a unique insight into the process and product of art-making and realized the ability to translate the creative process across domains. In 2013, he was appointed the first Visiting Artist and Social Entrepreneur at Chicago Booth where in his current work, and as a 2014 Associate Fellow with the NYU Center for Ballet and the Arts, he studies, and lectures on, the utility of the creative process and how the skills and behaviors of creatives can be of relevance and value to other sectors. John Michael presents on these ideas as a consultant and speaker in cities around the world.
