This Views of the power market and some insight into one of the largest and most complex industrial deals in 2015

GE is one of the world's largest companies. GE Power & Alstom Power built large Turbines & Power Stations: among others Gas, Coal, Hydro, Nuclear and Wind. At the time of the deal, Keith was General Counsel of Alstom and led the full divestment team on behalf of Alstom. His intense involvement from the early stages to its closure will give insight to the challenges of implementing such a mega-deal. The second part of the discussion will focus on the changing global Power environment, future trends and their financing needs in a low-interest rate environment.

Keith Carr (Speaker)
General Counsel, GE Power

Keith Carr was named general counsel of GE Power in November 2015. Headquartered in Schenectady, New York, the business serves customers in over 120 countries with a network of global sales, service and manufacturing centers.

Before assuming his current role, Keith was group general counsel for Alstom, based in Paris, France. Keith began his career in the legal and contracts department at NEI, a British group comprised of engineering companies. In 1990, he joined Deloitte, initially providing company law advice to the company's clients and then subsequently playing a role on the corporate recovery team. In 1995, Keith joined ABB as head of legal for its gas turbine division in the U.K., and then became head of legal for all of ABB's power operations in the U.K. After the merger with Alstom, Keith became head of the legal and contracts group for Alstom's gas turbines activities worldwide. In 2004, he was promoted to deputy general counsel for Alstom Power and then a year later became general counsel of Alstom Power. In 2011, Keith was promoted to group general counsel of Alstom.

Keith is a graduate of Northumbria University in the U.K., and holds an honors degree in law.
