John Cochrane and Russ Roberts will discuss the state of our economy and what factors are affecting the current economic climate.

John H. Cochrane is a Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution and the author of the Grumpy Economist blog. Cochrane was a Distinguished Professor of Finance at the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business and Economics Department. His publications include articles on the relationship between deficits and inflation, the effects of monetary policy, and the fiscal theory of the price level. Cochrane earned a bachelor's degree in physics at MIT and his PhD in economics at the University of California at Berkeley. He was a junior staff economist on the Council of Economic Advisers (1982–83). Cochrane frequently contributes editorial opinion essays to the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg.com, and other publications.

Russell Roberts is the John and Jean De Nault Research Fellow at the Hoover Institution. Roberts hosts the weekly podcast EconTalk which are hour-long conversations with authors, economists, and business leaders. Past guests include Milton Friedman, Nassim Taleb, Christopher Hitchens, Marc Andreessen, Joseph Stiglitz, and John Bogle. EconTalk was named podcast of the year in the 2008 Weblog Awards. Over 425 episodes are available at EconTalk.org. His two rap videos on the ideas of John Maynard Keynes and F.A. Hayek have had more than seven million views on YouTube. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Chicago.
