Event Details

As trading volumes continue to move from the exchange floor to electronic trading platforms professional traders have become increasingly dependent on technology to help sustain their business. In the past the trader with the best location on the trading floor had an edge, markets were wide enough traders could make a profit trading the bid-ask spread, and latency was measured in hundreds of milliseconds. Today the exchange floors are all but gone, bid-ask spreads are a tick wide, and markets move multiple ticks within microseconds. Early adopters of electronic trading were able to leverage technology to beat the competition to the most profitable opportunities by being faster. As the latency of trading systems has normalized over time professional traders are looking to Big Data analytics to gain a competitive advantage.

Rob D'Arco, CEO of Rival Systems, will discuss how Rival is leveraging a combination of their ultra low latency trading platform and Big Data analytics to predict the short term movement in the underlying price and help professional traders gain an edge in the derivatives markets.
