The electric utility consumer landscape is in the midst of dramatic transformation. From upgrades to the physical infrastructure, greater intelligence & information through a 'smarter grid', increases in distributed energy resources (DER), the evolution of battery storage alternatives as well as many other changes, the modifications are significant. All of these changes will affect how consumers interact with and view their energy usage and utility provider.
Increased consumer participation in the individualization of energy management seems poised to have a breakout period for several reasons. These include the expansion of demand response programs, increased utilization and availability of data analytics, future potential of EV integration, emergence of managed third party energy services and the maturity and evolution of home energy management systems and mobile applications for monitoring of connected home devices.

Yann Kulp (Speaker)
Vice President, Schneider Electric
Yann Kulp is Vice President SmartSpace at Schneider Electric, a $30 billion global leader in energy management solutions. He leads the strategic & commercial growth of residential & small commercial energy management solutions in North America. They deliver cloud connected customer engagement, energy efficiency and demand response solutions for homes, small buildings (banking, retail chains...), small businesses, utilities, smart cities and energy retailers.
Prior to this role, Yann ran the US connected Home team in the US, and before that was based in Paris as Director, Communications - Residential & Commercial Controls for Schneider Electric EMEAS. He also held sales, marketing and strategy roles at Legrand and Schneider Electric in U.S. and Europe. Kulp studied business in France, followed by an MBA at Syracuse University.
Since 2012, he is based in Chicago with his wife and three children. He serves of the board of the Chicago chapter of the French-American Chamber of Commerce, of CABA.org, where he is also chair of the CABA Connected Home Council, and is active in the Chicago start-up / Energy community.
Clare Butterfield (Speaker)
Program Director, ISEIF
Clare Butterfield is the Program Director for ISEIF, helping to originate and manage the grants function since 2013. She brings to ISEIF her background in grassroots environmental education around Illinois, and wide network of relationships in the field, which were established in her prior position for 14 years as founder and Executive Director of Faith in Place.
George Malek (Speaker)
Director, Energy Efficiency, ComEd
George leads ComEd's Energy Efficiency activities. He is responsible for developing and implementing ComEd's portfolio of programs. He had overseen the implementation of all Residential and C&I energy efficiency programs since their inception in 2008. His portfolios of programs have consistently and significantly exceeded their savings goals within their spending cap. George also serves as a spokesperson for ComEd to promote energy efficiency for their customers. Prior to joining ComEd, Malek served at the University of Illinois at Chicago's Energy Resources Center. George received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He received his Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
