GSB Pakistan Club celebrated the Worldwide GSB Night in Karachi and Lahore
On April 12, 2007, the Pakistan-based members of the GSB Pakistan Club celebrated the Worldwide GSB Night with nearly 80 other cities globally.
In Lahore, the event was hosted by Shoaib Abbasi, '85, who recently moved there from Evanston, IL. to oversee the expansion of his firm Strategic Systems International. In Karachi, the Club's Pakistan Liaison, Mimi Gilani, AXP '02, held a reception at her residence.
These events, along with the Admissions sessions we've held in the past, will certainly go a long way in furthering the Chicago Booth brand in this emerging market's growing appetite for higher and top tier professional education. In fact, one of these events led a prospective PhD student in Lahore to encourage his Chicago-based siblings to attend our Admissions Information Session on April 28, 2007 in Chicago.
Some of us may be deterred by the low number of GSB and Chicago alumni in those cities. But, many major American cities, such as Minneapolis and Cincinnati, had only 2-3 alumni at last year's event. Moreover, one can always include prospective students and professional colleagues in such a celebration.
The Pakistan Club remains indebted to both Shoaib Abbasi and Mimi Gilani for following through on the idea, especially under severe time constraints.
